Old age cats has longer sleep periods and more time spent safe indoors and fully rely on one's benefactors for emotional protection as well as physical care that are their owner. They not only less active and more dependent on us, they also physically less able to get us as required. Needing more support to feel secure they learn to call to attract our attention. These old cats are most likely to feel insecure at night and periodically wake up and call out for reassurance. We always have to get up to see if they are having trouble. Once reassured that we are around and protecting, these old cats fall quiet and may be happy to go back to sleep. They've learned that vocal communication is the main method to be employed if feeling insecure and continues to do it for the rest of his days. The solution best by placing the cats in our bedroom at night so we can reassure him without getting up.
